‘Extreme Makeover’ Contest Winner And Children Got Evicted From Dream Home

It was a day to day struggle for Arlene Nickless and her three children after her husband and their father suddenly died.

But the Nickless family certainly felt their luck was changing in 2008 when their house was selected for a complete transformation, thanks to the reality ABC TV show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

Even Arlene’s neighbors were quick to offer their help while the show’s team of professionals changed her shabby 3200-square foot house in Michigan into a home the entire family could be proud of and enjoy living in.

Arlene was even able to pay the mortgage each month.

But after her property taxes were tripled after a few years and the family had several emergencies that depleted their savings, she quickly got overwhelmed and fell behind on the house payments.

Arlene says that her mortgage company was completely indifferent to her troubles, rebuffing her efforts to work things out.

So in 2017, some nine years after the family’s Extreme Makeover triumph, Arlene and the Nickless family were evicted.

The syndicated TV news show Inside Edition interviewed the family on the day they had to hurry and pack up as much of their belongings as possible.

But Arlene and her kids are still optimistic that they can thrive once again.

The family has established a Go Fund Me page on the Internet for anyone interested in helping.
